Ostrich is the largest bird among the all types of birds and also known as “Camel Bird” due to its height and weight. The weight of the ostrich ranges from 65 – 140 kilograms depend upon the age and sex of the bird. The male ostrich having weight about 120 kilograms with the height of 2 – 3 meters while the female ostrich having weight and height 100 kilograms and 1.5 – 2 meters respectively. They can run with the speed of 70 km / hr. Ostrich has largest eye ball whose diameter is about 50 mm. This bird become adult in the age of about 2 years and starts breeding in March till September. About 50 feathers are found on their tails and same number of feathers also present on body. Male ostrich has black feathers with white endings while female has black to brown feathers. Female Ostrich lay eggs in a nest whose depth is 30 – 40 cm while width is about 3 meters and weight of egg is about 1.5 kilograms with 15 cm length and 13 cm widht. Male Ostrich sit on eggs at night while female in morning for hatching. Eggs hatched out after 35 – 45 days.
